DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The University of North Dakota School of Law, a member of the AALS since 1910, is over a century old and is the state’s sole law school. As such, it plays a vital role in the legal life of both North Dakota and the Upper Midwest region. The Thormodsgard Law Library is housed in a separate and modern four-story building that is connected to the School of Law. The library collection contains more than 321,000 volumes, including 160,000 volume equivalents on microform, and a growing electronic resources collection. The Chester Fritz Library, which houses the main University of North Dakota library collection, and the Harley E. French Library of the Health Sciences, are both located near the School of Law. These libraries complement the law library collection and facilitate interdisciplinary research.

Duties to include: Initiate, coordinate, and actively promote library programs and services to the School of Law faculty; provide instruction and support in the use of educational technologies; provide reference and research services for faculty and students; conduct both group and one-on-one instructional sessions for faculty and students; develop user education programs, training and instructional materials; develop web site content; participate in formal and informal legal research instruction; prepare print and electronic research aids and collection guides; and participate in collection development. Train and supervise student reference assistants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• MLS from an ALA accredited program or JD from ABA accredited program
• Ability to relate well to faculty and students
• Strong service orientation
• Strong supervisory and managerial skills
• Excellent communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Hold both JD and MLS degrees
• 3-5 years professional experience in academic law libraries
• Experience with Web 2.0 technologies, course management software, LexisNexis® and Westlaw®
