Editor in Chief

James Hoy is a third-year law student and serves as the Editor in Chief of the North Dakota Law Review for the 2010-2011 school year.  He is a proud North Dakotan and graduated from West Fargo High School in 2003.  He spent his next five years on the University of North Dakota men’s basketball team and graduated in 2008 with a B.B.A. in Business Management, and an M.B.A.  Following his first year of law school, he spent his summer as an extern with the U.S. District Court in Fargo, N.D., in the chambers of Chief Magistrate Judge Karen K. Klein and District Judge Ralph R. Erickson.  He spent this past summer in Bismarck, N.D., working for the law firm of Fredrikson & Byron, P.A.  Last school year, he served as President to the Student Trial Lawyers Association and helped revitalize the law school “Gong Show” Talent Competition.  He was also a finalist, along with his partner, in the UND Moot Court Competition and competed in the University of Wisconsin Evan A. Evans Moot Court Competition.  In his free time, James enjoys reading, golf, basketball, and all things competitive.  He also enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends, and cheering for the Minnesota Twins.

Lindsey Scheel is a third-year law student and serves as the Managing Editor of the North Dakota Law Review for the 2010-2011 school year.  She is originally from Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1999.  Lindsey attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where she studied art and economics.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003.  Since beginning her legal career at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2008, Lindsey has been involved with the North Dakota Law Review, the Law Women’s Caucus, and the Public Interest Law Student Association.  In the summer after her first year of law school, she worked with Professor Kirsten Dauphinais as a Research Assistant, and Lindsey spent this past summer with Vogel Law Firm as a Summer Associate.  She has a five-year-old rat terrier who enjoys eating paper, couches, and blankets.  In her free time, Lindsey loves spending time at the lakes, being with family and friends, listening to classic rock, reading magazines, and watching movies.

Ben Williams is a third-year law student and serves as the incoming Outside Articles Editor of the North Dakota Law Review.  Ben is from Moorhead, Minnesota, where he graduated from Concordia College in 2006 with degrees in Biology and History. In the summer of 2009, Ben served as an extern with U.S. District Court in Fargo, North Dakota. Outside of school, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea, and playing with his adopted pit bull, Wrigley. He also takes advantage of every possible opportunity to watch the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Paul Gunderson is a third-year law student and serves as the Note Editor of the North Dakota Law Review. Paul grew up in rural Norseland, Minnesota and graduated from St. Peter High School in 2003. He then attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, where he studied History and Education to earn a B.A. degree in Broad Field Social Studies. During law school, Paul has been a board member of the Federalist Society and volunteered by helping members of the community with tax preparation. After his first year of law school, he returned to St. Peter for the summer where he assisted with the city’s criminal prosecution calendar as an intern for the City Attorney. In the spring of 2010, he was an extern with the judges of the Northeast Central Judicial District in Grand Forks. Paul currently works at Rust, Stock, Rasmusson, and Knutson in Crookston, Minnesota. With his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, kayaking, traveling, and watching as many Minnesota Twins games with his wife as possible.

Dennis Ingold is a third-year law student and serves as Case Comment Editor of the North Dakota Law Review. Dennis was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Minot State University.  While at Minot State, Dennis was active in the MSU Science Club, serving as Treasurer and Co-President.  As a part of his research responsibilities at Minot State, Dennis presented at several conferences around the region, including the 2008 Conferences of the North Dakota Academy of Science and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  During law school, Dennis has been involved with the North Dakota Law Review and the International Human Rights Organization. Following his first year of law school, Dennis served as an extern at the United States Attorney’s Office in Bismarck.  In his spare time, Dennis enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife April and their son Benson.

Abby Siewert is a third-year law student and serves as the Symposium Editor of the North Dakota Law Review for the 2010-2011 school year.  Abby was born and raised in Williston, North Dakota, and graduated from Williston High School in 2004.  She then earned a bachelor of arts in English with a minor in Political Science from the University of North Dakota.  Abby began her legal career at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2008.  Following her first year of law school, Abby served as an extern with the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  During law school, Abby has been involved in the North Dakota Law Review, and the Law Women’s Caucus.  In her free time, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends.  She also enjoys golfing, eating sushi, and attending concerts.  Abby is a “die-hard” Green Bay Packers fan and never misses a game.

Sara Monson is a third-year law student and serves as the Technical Editor of the North Dakota Law Review.  Sara was born and raised in West Fargo, North Dakota, and graduated from West Fargo High School in 2003.  She attended North Dakota State University and holds a B.S. degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice.  Sara began her legal career at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2008.  She currently works as a law clerk at Kennelly & O’Keeffe law firm in Fargo.  Outside of law school, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, shopping, and going out to eat.
