Human Rights Education Workshops
The workshops, conducted by North Dakota Human Rights Coalition (NDHRC) and the staff and law students from the UND School of Law Clinical Education Program, will include education on human rights language and concepts and provide education on how human rights concepts are applied in the United States and North Dakota. It is the NDHRC’s hope that this statewide education project will promote human rights, and build a network of people, communities, and groups who are concerned with human rights issues. Ideally, the NDHRC will revisit these communities to provide further social action education, and learn more about the human rights issues in North Dakota and how those issues relate to the larger spectrum of human rights. It is also possible that local human relations commissions could be established in some communities. The NDHRC received a grant from the United States Human Rights Fund to conduct workshops across North Dakota in an effort to increase awareness of international human rights concepts. They are partnering with the UND School of Law Clinical Education Program and the Consensus Council, Inc. in Bismarck in the activities of the grant. Local hosts and partners in individual communities where the workshops are to be held will also be involved. Human Rights Education Presentation to be Held in Fort Totten, N.D.
