Molbert Family Makes Donation to UND School of LawPress Release - July 25, 2006 Ralph Molbert Bio
Immediately after graduation from UND Law School in 1941, Ralph accepted a position as an attorney with the Department of Labor in Washington D.C.; however, as an only son, Ralph did the noble thing and came home to help his elderly parents on the farm. Returning home, he also started a solo law practice in the area. Ralph’s practice and entrepreneurial instincts grew as he established an insurance agency and income tax service business. He was also state’s attorney in Kidder County, and by the early 1960s, Ralph had become involved with banking. In 1969 he acquired a small bank he started in Steele, N.D., which flourished and became his primary focus until retirement in the late 1990s. Though Ralph had pursued many business interests, he was always considered a lawyer in the community. Ralph died on August 8, 2006 at the age of 91. The Molbert ClassroomThe renovation of Room 211 in the UND School of Law is the result of a significant gift from the family of Ralph Molbert, a 1941 law school graduate. The Molbert Classroom will be equipped with hi-tech instructional technology and will provide a more conducive learning environment for the 80-some first-year law students who will fill the seats this fall. This donation, on behalf of Ralph Molbert, is a gift from his wife Beverly (Steele, N.D.); son Lauris, '79, '83, and daughter-in-law Jane Grove (Fargo); daughter Karna (Molbert) Kornkven, ’81, and son-in-law Richard Kornkven, ’74 (Bottineau, N.D.); son Eric Molbert, ’89 (Bismarck); and daughter Kristi (Molbert) Benz and son-in-law Miles Benz (Steele, N.D.). Construction on the Molbert Classroom began on May 15, 2006 with plans for it to be completed by fall orientation on August 14. Please refer back to this site to follow progress as the renovation is completed. A formal dedication for the Molbert room will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2006 as part of Homecoming festivities. |
